Just upgraded to Windows 10 and when I set up this computer, I chose to use a local account. But now when I go to Start> Settings> Accounts and click on the link “Sign in a Microsoft Account”, I get the message “Something went wrong.” The result of the net that I am unable to sign in to my Microsoft account through this method

Part 1: Cannot sign in to Microsoft account – Something went wrong

Many Windows 10 users can not log in to a Microsoft account and are stuck in the “Something went wrong” message. This usually happens when they sign in with a Microsoft account instead of signing in, but cannot switch from a local account to a Microsoft account, or try to sign in to the Cortina / Windows Store with a Microsoft account Are. The reasons can be different. I can sum many available solutions that you can try
Solution 1: Network speed
If your internet is disconnected the net speed is very slow is that moment when you are trying to sign in to Microsoft account, it is likely to become the reason why your Windows 10 not sign in Microsoft account. In this case, you have to diagnose your network connection and take a few more attempts until you can sign in successfully.
If your Internet is disconnected or the speed of the network is very slow at the time, when you are trying to sign in to a Microsoft account, then it is likely to cause you to not sign in to your Windows 10 Microsoft account. In this case, you have to diagnose your network connection and will have to do some more effort until you can successfully sign.
If that network is not a problem and still you cannot sign into a Microsoft account in Windows 10 after several attempts, then try the following solutions.

Solution 2: Create a new local account

Another reason is that your Windows 10 cannot enter a Microsoft account; there may be a problem with your current user profile. In this situation, you can create a new local administrator account.
Step 1: Open Windows 10 Command Prompt as administrator.
Step 2: Type net user <user> / add (for example: net user iSumsoft / add) and press the Enter key to add a new local user account. After that, add the netlogroup administrator <user> / add and hit the user to create an admin account.
Step 3: Sign out your current account. Then sign in to Windows 10 with the newly added local administrator account and then try signing in to the Microsoft account.

Solution 3: Check out the Microsoft account sign-in support service

Step1:  One of the reasons for your Windows 10 cannot be signed in to a Microsoft account is that the Microsoft account sign-in support service is not turned on.
Step 2: The Services window opens. Scroll to the right Scroll down to find the Microsoft account sign-in assistant service, and then double-click on it.
Step 3: Make sure the service conditions are started. Click the drop-down behind the startup type and select Automatic or Manual. Then click Save to save the changes and click OK.
Step 4: Restart your computer and then try to sign in to Windows 10 with a Microsoft account.
If it still cannot work for you, try the following solutions.

Solution 4: Troubleshooting by program

Step 1: Download the Microsoft account troubleshooter program.
Step 2: Run the program. It will automatically detect invalid settings on your system. Just need to click next and wait until troubleshooting is complete.
Step 3: Once the problems have been fixed, reboot your Windows 10 and then try signing in to a Microsoft account.
If it still cannot work for you, then what a pity! I’m afraid you have to re-install the system.

Part 2: Cannot sign in to Microsoft account – password incorrect

If Windows 10 cannot enter a Microsoft account due to an incorrect password, things will be much easier. Just need to reset the password.
  • If your Microsoft account is linked to your local account, reset your password
  • If your Microsoft account exists independently on your Windows 10, then you can reset the Microsoft account password from the Windows 10 login screen or by using our software product Windows Password Refiner.
